I'm tempted to also rank various covers of Tears but that would be so much more work. Though, he does capture the comedic facial expressions and the pure passion, so he gets some points. The stumbling around the practice room while cutting off notes prematurely is an amazing touch. A natural instinct for chaos resides in him. But when the chorus hits and that shrieking begins, he shows an impeccable understanding of what he must do. At first, it seems like he's about to deliver an amazingly stunning rendition of the song. Despite the fact that this is against the assignment, I'll allow it because at least he didn't call me unfunny. However, he doesn't try to be funny about it. Just like Eunkwang, Jongho fails to understand that I don't like being called untalented like this.

The main vocal of his group is so enraptured he gives up on the duet and lets Zelo take full reign over the performance, which is incredibly smart, because only Zelo can deliver a monster of this caliber. He's utterly immersed into his character-the extra voice cracks tacked on for flair demonstrate that he understands the assignment. Now this is what I'm talking about! Absolutely terrible, strangely impressive, and comedy gold.
This is, in fact, illegal behavior and he is automatically disqualified for making me angry. Eunkwang successfully manages to simultaneously be hilarious and butcher the song, while also nailing it perfectly. But it's still terrible and hilarious, so it understands the assignment. The illusion is shattered by his self-awareness. The lack of confidence and pure conviction ruins this cover. The issue here is that he knows he can't hit these notes (nowadays he could do it, but survival show days? Nope.) The whole essence is to convince yourself that you can hit them and that no matter how absolutely terrible you sound, you COMMIT to it. Jinho proves to have the vocal stylings of a chipmunk that inhaled helium and hits the notes, while Shinwon delivers the absolute comedy of the first chorus lines that make all these covers so iconic. The best of both worlds, in this performance. And YoungK actually hits the notes not-too-horribly while also maintaining the absurdity of what he's trying to sing.
He makes up for it by being painfully dramatic in the chorus, though. Jae switches the notes to preserve his vocal chords and to spare our eardrums, which is against the purpose of covering the song. However, the assignment was not fully understood. Leave it to DAY6 to deliver the insane energy of this song. Also, I seriously recommend watching all of these, because the vast majority of them will give you abs from laughing so hard.
